Short Term Memory Loss Couldn’t Stop Christina From Learning Math With Elephant Learning
Summary
Christina* (not her real name) has an unidentified learning disability which causes short term memory loss. Difficulties remembering short term information made learning mathematics at homeschool difficult until she started using Elephant Learning as a supplement.
1.) Challenges
For Christina, math time always meant tears. Low self-esteem due to her disability made learning even harder. She was held back twice in 1st grade and continued to move slowly through middle school. Even though Christina was an 8th grader, she was still at a 3rd-grade level. Her mom made the choice to homeschool her instead to help her catch up with extra attention and tutoring happening twice a week.
2.) Finding Elephant Learning
Christina’s tears at math time fueled her mom to find anything that would help. She realized her daughter wanted to excel past the frustration and anxiety and finally learn mathematics. After reading reviews and case studies about the success that other students with learning disabilities had on Elephant Learning, Christina’s mom decided to sign her up.
